We had a great time last night at Rachael's performing as part of the NOAM showcase. Jason Hathaway opened up the evening with some awesome originals and classics on his six-string banjo. Timothy Reed and friends were up next: an amazing ensemble of vocalists, keyboardists, bass & drums (plus comedy, too)! We played set next and were followed by Jacob Latham with Nathan Haberman-Ducey on bass. They were great!
Here's the tunes we did, all Fickel originals, featuring the fine vocal talents of the fabulous Ginger Curry:
All Your Bad Habits
I Want All My Money Back
One Thousand And One
Get What You Pay For
Jokerville
Some Kind of Love
Sad News
Can't Live No Place
Gamelan Boyfriend
Monon Train
Fun news for the New Year: Jason's tune, "One Thousand And One", received an Honorable Mention in the Vocal Jazz/Blues category at the 29th Annual Mid-Atlantic Song Contest hosted by the Songwriters Association of Washington (DC). (Full list of winners at

The song appeared as a cut on J&G's "Jokerville" and as an EP track (with a full band) a couple years earlier. Listen and download both at JasonAndGinger.com/music.html!

We had fantastic time on Saturday night at the Cherry Ghost Coffee House in Washington, Indiana! We had a great opening act (Brick Briscoe) and a beautiful, wonderful audience of all ages. Brian and Vickie Sherman have created a wonderful community in Washington and we are so proud to be a little part of it! It was such a pleasure to meet so many interesting and generous people after the show. We'll schedule another Cherry Ghost date for the fall. We love it!
Ginger and I play at Players Pub this Wednesday, May 23, 8pm, here in Bloomington with our band: Stephen Harms on bass, Kyle Hopkins on drums, and Rob Reynolds on the keys. This is the first gig in a long time that we've had with the band; we had a very fun rehearsal last week -- it's going to be a good time!
Many of you have asked about my stolen guitars and I appreciate your concern. You have been very generous with your offers to borrow equipment and with your ideas of how [...]
